Fostering literacy for every learner
Offering one-to-one structured literacy intervention grounded in the Science of Reading and delivered through a compassionate and research-based approach.
I’m Margo Foster, a reading specialist and the owner of Foster Literacy. I work with struggling readers who need individualized, structured support with reading and spelling. I help students understand how the whole system of English works: spelling patterns, word structure, grammar, handwriting, and vocabulary.
My teaching is grounded in the Orton-Gillingham approach, an evidence‑based, multisensory method that helps students make sense of language.
I hold a Master of Education from the University of Toronto (OISE), bring 15 years of professional experience in post‑secondary education, and have completed a rigorous Orton‑Gillingham educator training program accredited by the Orton Gillingham Academy. I’ve also earned the International Dyslexia Association’s Structured Literacy Educator Certificate for successfully completing the Knowledge and Practice Examination for Effective Reading Instruction (KPEERI), a comprehensive certification exam designed to assess knowledge of Structured Literacy and the ability to apply that knowledge to teaching.
I provide specialized instruction for students with dyslexia and support learners who need clear, structured instruction, including French Immersion students whose English reading and spelling may require additional support.
If your child is struggling with reading, writing, or spelling, email me at margo@fosterliteracy.ca to book a consultation and explore whether Foster Literacy is the right fit to support their learning.
