I provide structured literacy intervention for children who need explicit, evidence‑based support in reading and spelling. Services include:
One‑to‑one structured literacy intervention
Twice‑weekly individualized instruction using an Orton‑Gillingham–based approach. Lessons target phonological awareness, decoding, spelling, fluency, handwriting and vocabulary, with instruction tailored to each child’s skill profile.
Small‑group lessons
A once per week group for three to four carefully matched students. Instruction follows the same structured literacy principles as 1:1 support but in a group environment.
Comprehensive literacy screening
A detailed evaluation of reading, spelling, and foundational language skills. Families receive a clear summary of strengths, needs, and recommended next steps.
Ongoing progress monitoring and instructional planning
Regular updates and diagnostic‑prescriptive adjustments to ensure instruction remains responsive and effective.

Rather than following a set curriculum, Orton-Gillingham teaching is ‘diagnostic’, meaning every lesson builds on the skills acquired in previous lessons and ongoing review of concepts until a student develops deep understanding. This approach is especially effective for children with dyslexia or those who need more than typical classroom instruction to become confident readers.

Structured literacy is beneficial for any child who needs explicit, systematic instruction in reading and spelling. It is especially well‑suited for children with dyslexia, language‑based learning differences, or persistent reading challenges. If a child requires highly individualized support, one‑to‑one sessions may be recommended; if they thrive socially and benefit from collaborative learning, small groups can be an excellent fit

Students are required to attend a minimum of two 60 minute sessions per week. Meeting twice a week gives students the consistent, structured practice required to store skills more efficiently and build them into long‑term memory.

I have a Master of Education degree from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto. I’ve taught English at the college level and have overseen academic programs across a range of disciplines. I’ve completed a rigorous Orton-Gillingham Academy- accredited training program and am completing a practicum under the supervision of a Fellow of the Orton-Gillingham Academy.
I’ve also successfully completed the International Dyslexia Association’s Knowledge and Practice Examination for Effective Reading Instruction (KPEERI). The exam is grounded in the International Dyslexia Association’s Knowledge and Practice Standards for Teachers of Reading (KPS), which define the essential knowledge and skills required for effective, evidence-based reading instruction.

1:1 intervention is offered at $95 per session (minimum two 60 minute sessions per week). The per lesson rate reflects the full scope of work required to deliver high‑quality structured literacy intervention. Each 60 minute lesson is built from a diagnostic‑prescriptive process that requires significant preparation, analysis, and planning to ensure instruction is targeted, effective, and responsive to each unique learner. After each session, I analyze errors, note patterns, and adjust the next lesson accordingly. This ensures instruction remains precise and responsive.
Small group lessons are offered at $50 per session.
Literacy screening and reporting is included in 1:1 intervention and prior to beginning small group sessions. It is billed at a rate of $95/hour.
